BPBC Open For Business

Hi guys,
After much time away, the Black Pearl Brewing Company is back in business. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to put our brewing on hold for some time but now that things are back to normal, you should see some more activity & postings happening.
Thanks for your patience...
Jack.

Honey Wheat Brew Day...

I took a gravity reading which was 1045 & the colour of the brew looks great, I was expecting quite a light colour but this looks good! The taste is fantastic, lovely sweet tones which arent overpowering & a nice bitter after taste, thanks to the Hallertau hops!

After getting the great idea from Yardie, I made up a bucket filter which worked a treat for both filtering the water & cooling the wort down!

The boil for this went really well, no boil overs & a nice steady rolling boil. The Wheat Sheaf extract, wheat malt & dextrose was boiled for 60 mins, adding 325g of honey at the last 5 minutes...the aromas from the boil were fantastic!

Premium Honey Blonde

Not quite 2 weeks in the bottle but looking & tasting damn good...very refreshing & plenty of bitterness...head retention isnt so good yet but Im sure it will get better with age...if it lasts long enough to do so!!

Black Widow Honey Wheat label...

After being inspired by Silky's excellent labels, I thought I would give it a go myself & came up with this...Im really happy with the layout of it & am looking forward to how it will look on bottles!

Black Widow Honey Wheat

Below are the ingredients I'll be using for my next brew. I am putting this one down on Saturday 25th Feb.
I'll post progressive results but I think this one will turn out really well. The idea of some sublte honey with the wheat malt & hallertau hops will make it a great tasting brew, IMHO!

1st FG reading @ 1005 on 01/02/2006

I took the first of 2 FG readings last night (01/02) which read around 1005, so Im hoping once this is bulk primed & bottled, the Alc Vol. will be quite good...Im thinking around 5.5%

Brew Log...Revised
